Summary of Amendment 1

This amendment to the APHEA Bylaws will provide that, following the 2026 APHEA Conference, the Board of Directors will become a self-perpetuating board. Once this amendment is adopted, voting on APHEA business will be limited to the APHEA Board of Directors. This amendment has been requested by the National Alliance of Christian Home Education Leadership to bring APHEA in conformity with other state homeschool organizations and to better protect the mission of APHEA.

ARTICLE V
REPLACE “from the voting membership by the members of the organization” with “by the Board of Directors”

REPLACE “Members-at-large” with “Those”

REPLACE “at the close of the conference” with “on a date determined by the Board of Directors”

DELETE “must be APHEA members and”

ARTICLE VI
DELETE ARTICLE VI AND REPLACE WITH:
Each member of the Board of Directors is entitled to one vote, whether that member be an individual or a couple.

ARTICLE VII
REPLACE “membership” with “Board of Directors”

ARTICLE X
DELETE ARTICLE X AND REPLACE WITH:
Amendments to these by-laws shall be enacted by the Board of Directors under the following conditions:
1. Amendments may be proposed by any member of the Board of Directors.
2. Approval of amendments shall be by no less than five members of the Board of Directors.
3. The power to amend does not extend to the Statement of Faith which cannot be changed.
